I have been a registered Republican for 50 years. Last week I changed my registration to “unaffiliated”. As The late, great Ronald Reagan used to say about the Democrat Party: “I didn’t leave them, they left me.”...

I have been a registered Democrat for 38 years and have seen no reason to change that. It does not affect how I vote and the Democrats put on a better pre-election picnic. I send them a dollar every year and receive in return a couple of dollars worth of thank you note and several more dollars worth of propaganda. I fill out their surveys and send them back if they are post paid and some are. Wife got “heads” 38 years ago so she is the Republican. When we registered, Republicans had no input to local politics. That flipped altogether by the end of Reagan’s term and it still doesn’t matter in the primaries because the most conservative (at least conservative sounding) candidate always wins the primary big.
