Senator David Leyonhjelm files racism complaint because he was called an 'angry white male'

Senator David Leyonhjelm has lodged a complaint under the Racial Discrimination Act for comments made about him by a journalist.

The Liberal Democrat senator, from New South Wales, submitted the complaint last week after a Fairfax media article was published referring to him as a 'boorish and gormless as a result of being an angry white male', reported the Daily Telegraph.

It is reportedly the first complaint of its kind for the Australian Human Rights Commission (HRC) under section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act.

Under this section, it states it is unlawful to commit an act which would reasonably offend or insult someone because of their race, colour, national or ethnic origin.

The Fairfax article reportedly criticised Senator Leyonhjelm for his traditional views on free speech and his campaign to revoke Section 18C.

In a bizarre turn of events, it means Senator Leyonhjelm is using the provision he wants to abolish to launch the action, in a bid to prove what he initially said was the absurdity of the law.

This is happening in Australia.

In a bizarre turn of events, it means Senator Leyonhjelm is using the provision he wants to abolish to launch the action, in a bid to prove what he initially said was the absurdity of the law.

There's nothing bizarre about it - he's making a deliberate point. 18C is a serious violation of both freedom of speech and freedom of the press in Australia. Tony Abbott (then leader of the opposition and subsequently Prime Minister) went to the polls in 2013 pledging to repeal it, but backed away in the face of a hostile Senate - to be fair, he had little hope of succeeding but it's a fight I think he should have gone ahead with anyway.

One of Australia's best known conservative journalists, Andrew Bolt, has been censored under 18C after he questioned as to whether some people were claiming aboriginal heritage because of the affirmative action and other benefits it could bring. And a group of university students are currently facing a complaint against them for querying the existence of Aboriginal only computer labs at their university.

If he were a black or Aborigine legislator and called out as an angry ethnic by a journalist, would he have cause to sue?

Goose and gander.

Western man towers over the rest of the world in ways so large as to be almost inexpressible. It's Western exploration, science, and conquest that have revealed the world to itself.

Other races feel like subjects of western power long after colonialism, imperialism and slavery have disappeared. The charge of racism puzzles whites who feel not hostility, but only baffled good will, because they don't grasp what it really means: humiliation.

The white man presents an image of superiority even when he isn't conscious of it. Superiority excites envy. Destroying white civilization is the most inmost desire of the league of designated victims we call "minorities." - Joseph Sobran 1997.

And the SJW too Joseph.

There's nothing bizarre about it

Certainly nothing unusual about the spin "FairFacts" Press puts on it.

Our only hope at this moment is to stand in the shadow of Trump.

He is busy resuscitating the First Amendment.

Yes, although not recently.

The last actual duel I know of was in 1851, but there was a case in 1892 where one politician challenged another to a duel only to have it prevented by the police. One of the two parties went on to be Premier of South Australia, and the other to be the first President of the Australian Senate.

However, great as Western and white civilization has been, they also are destroying themselves and doing great damage to “minorities” in the process.

Superiority excites envy. Ayn Rand referred to it as:"The Age of Envy", where the good is hated for being good. I think superiority incites envy.

It is a sick degenerate society that abolishes dueling.

I think the British abolished dueling in 1837. One of my great great grandfathers killed a man in a duel over a girl—what a stupid reason—and had to flee Ireland for America in the 1840s.

He ended up joining the Army and retired, as a Sgt. Major I believe, after
30+ years. Frontier posts, Regular Army during the Civil War, Little Rock in the Occupation then back to frontier posts. My Dad said he wanted to stay
out West. Evidently he liked combat.
