Many federal employees in my northern Virginia world are choosing to retire in NC because they don’t pay taxes on their retirement or some such. They’re heading your way!
The problem for Virginia is that it’s just too danged easy for the locusts to cross the bridge from the People’s Republic of Maryland, which they’ve pretty much destroyed.
Trump should still win NC. Romney beat Obama, not by much but he beat him. And Trump is a hell of a lot more popular in NC than Romney ever was. Also Clinton will get no where the black support that Obama got. Never believe a ridiculous poll that shows the witch leading Trump by 9 points like the poll the media loves to report that came out a few days ago.
The solution, to some extent, is to annex some of the beltway into DC. That makes more sense than grouping rural Virginia with the beltway. The same should be done with Maryland. This would create a larger more significant DC that would have to be competed against politically, but would also free up two states for more representative government.
Another big factor in Virginia is immigration.
In Northern Virginia, the Fairfax County school system had a big Spanish language program ten years ago - now it is struggling to support 23 different languages. Headscarves and islamic man dresses are common. Major apartment complexes in the area are majority foreign born.
It is not so much that the natives opinions have shifted toward socialism, as they have been diluted by adding new ones.
These liberals move out of their states to make their new states look like the cess pits they left. Yet again liberals show they have no brains or common sense.
