President Obama is stirring resentment over his refusal to interrupt his Marthas Vineyard vacation to survey the Louisiana flood the worst U.S. natural disaster since 2012 while drawing comparisons to President George W. Bushs hotly criticized response to Hurricane Katrina in the same state.
Mr. Obamas lack of urgency is drawing unflattering parallels to the federal response in 2005, when Mr. Bush was branded as uncaring and even racist for not touching down during a flyover two days after Hurricane Katrina
Not only has Mr. Obama refused to cut short his golfing vacation, but he also has issued no public or written statements about the crisis, which has been dubbed the Louisiana Flood of 2016.
The Advocate newspaper in Baton Rouge opened the floodgates Thursday by urging Mr. Obama to cut his vacation short and bring badly needed attention to the disaster, which has claimed 13 lives and damaged 40,000 homes after a series of storms that unleashed nearly 3 feet of rain. Vacation or not, a hurting Louisiana needs you now, Mr. President, said the headline. Weve seen this story before in Louisiana, and we dont deserve a sequel, the editorial said. In 2005, a flyover by a vacationing President George W. Bush became a symbol of official neglect for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The current president was among those making political hay out of Bushs aloofness.
The newspaper noted that Mr. Obama did stray Monday from Marthas Vineyard, described as a playground for the posh and well-connected, to attend a nearby fundraiser for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. I think when you need presidential leadership, you need presidential leadership, and when you sign up to be president, you sign up for a 24/7 job, Advocate Editor Peter Kovacs said on CNN.

Another emergency, another fundraiser to attend, just like Benghazi.
mostly the whites so who cares....
The lunatics, creeps, misfits and dorks at CNN are salivating already.

President Obama doesn’t like WHITE PEOPLE.
Anyone have the “Looter Man” pic from Katrina?
The fool is merely a racist thug.
I think Obama enjoys causing this sort of citizen rage. He feels invulnerable and beyond reproach as President, aka Mr. Big. Keep going, Obama, your little daydream (our national nightmare) is going to be in the rear view mirror very soon!
I will celebrate the day, no matter who is elected. Hopefully, it will be Trump.
You’re exactly right, brother.
Keep digging this hole, Mr. O.
There is nothing in state or federal law preventing 0bama from going to LA.
Trump needs to go take a look and tell us what can be done to help those people. This is a big deal.
Funny you should say that.
DONALD TRUMP Heads to Louisiana Tomorrow While Obama Vacations, Hillary Rests
” when Mr. Bush was branded as uncaring and even racist for not touching down during a flyover two days after Hurricane Katrina “
FIRST: It is impossible to ‘touch down’ during a flyover.
SECOND: Afterwards , President Bush did touch down. And helped. Not the phony photo op stuff that Obama/Clinton do, but really physically helping. He helped carry children to the Navy ship that was being used as a medical facility and shower facility. His shirt was soaked with sweat.
But you won’t see those pictures in the media, nor the ones of the Bushes attending various church services and community events.
He can’t be seen as “caring” about Baton Rouge after a black angel was shot there by demon cops. Not to mention the BLM movement would be furious with him. Plus, all the cops that were murdered made him so happy, I’m sure he sees this as poetic justice.
Funny all the pictures I’ve seen of white people and white cops rescuing black people they don’t seem to mind now. I haven’t heard of any blacks telling white cops to get out we’d rather drown, have you?
Media is like “We Don’t Care, it isn’t GW”
If the Gov of Louisiana has to fly to DC ... He is gonna Git His Obama Hug! The Media will be all over that. One from Hillary too!
