One morning going to work many years ago, a Gaffigan bit was on:

Jim Gaffigan is great. I've got a couple of his comedy albums, and I'm very happy for his success. You're right, he does tell stories, and does them very well.

A stand up comedian whose career has unfortunately, moved on to bit parts in movies, is Larry Miller. A really memorable part of a movie he did was as the clothing store manager in "Pretty Woman." But he tells stories in his stand-up concerts that are incredibly funny, and watching his comedy specials, on more than once occasion, I'be had to hit pause and leave the room, just to try to catch my breath, because I was laughing so hard!.
