Foolishly though, they have rejected their natural political alignment as conservatives ...

This is where your analysis is flawed. There is no natural conservative political alignment with these people. They are liberals at their core.

Pat Buchanan and Donald Trump were against the Iraq War too. GWB vowed it would not be “another Vietnam”.

Pat Buchanan was writing about this very thing in 1991-1992.

I’d be OK with them just destroying themselves, but trying to take the rest of us down with them by voting hillary is what sticks in my craw.

Is he insane now, or was he insane then when planning the Iraq war, or has he always been insane.

These guys love their personal power more than they care about their country.

Thanks for putting everything into perspective...I am horrified at the pain and suffering our finest have endured because of stupid decisions.

Yep, and he was smeared here and elsewhere as an anti-Semite.

Making wars is lucrative...He’ll make much more money with Hillary at the helm...

No surprise at all. Hillary’s stated foreign policy is in full alignment with that of the neocons. (Her later renunciation of her Iraq War vote was a political move designed to enable her to compete with Obama in the Presidential primaries of 2008.)

There is absolutely no difference between Hillary’s positions on foreign policy and those promulgated in editorials in the Wall Street Journal or columns by neocons like Bret Stephens.

In the case of Paul Wolfowitz, it’s not only a matter of his disliking Donald Trump - I think he really likes Hillary - feels very comfortable with her.

Why doesn’t Trump run an add featuring all of these “warmongers” who are bolting the Republican nominee to vote for the bitch.

Double win for Trump.

“Trump’s improbable rise demonstrates the desire of a great many Americans to defend their country. Even if he is defeated, Trump will have moved the country forward toward such policies.”

Yep. (Except, speaking for myself, I did not consider his rise improbable as long as he was willing to stick with it. I was so over the Neocons by the time of his announcement, I immediately boarded his train.)

Pat has long had the bad taste to say what he thinks - and to be right more often than not.

Absolutely correct: Civilization - as in being truly civilized - is a prerequisite of, not a consequent of, any kind of democratic system.

Yes, that is exactly what they want. I am trying to work this angel on my very Progressive dad, who had JFK as a childhood hero. I am trying to explain to him that Hillary is being supported by the war party, and is like the generals that wanted to fight a nuclear war. Trump should harp on the fact that Hillary is the war candidate, and he is the peace candidate.

The treachery he exhibited in Iraq makes this decision expected. The man loves other people’s money far more than he loves his country.

Maybe they were thinking about our success in democratizing Germany and Japan after WWII. You guys think? They were probably different from the Middle East.
