Donald Trump On Colin Kaepernick: "Maybe He Should Find A Country That Works Better For Him"
DeadSpin ^

Posted on 08/29/2016 10:23:26 PM PDT by TigerClaws

What you are about to hear represents an utterly monumental lack of self-awareness on Donald Trump’s part—astonishing, I know.

Trump appeared on Dori Monson’s show on KIRO radio in Seattle this afternoon, and was asked about 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick’s decision not to stand for the National Anthem as a protest against racial oppression, police brutality, and all-around inequality in the United States. His answer:

“Well I have followed [the Kaepernick story], and I think it’s personally not a good thing. I think it’s a terrible thing. And you know, maybe he should find a country that works better for him, let him try, it won’t happen.”

Trump’s entire campaign is based around the idea that America is stumbling, or broken, or fundamentally subpar in some way—“Make America great again” and all that. His response to someone else who believes America needs to fix things is to tell him to look for another country. Incredible.

I’m reminded that “if you don’t like it, get out” was a common rejoinder to political protests of the Bush era—as if America were perfect, and supporting it means never acknowledging its faults, and if you want to call attention to its shortcomings and work to make it better, you must not truly love it. That refrain seemed to have thankfully disappeared from top-level political discourse. God bless Donald Trump for never failing to disappoint with the takes.

Eleven words that say it all.

Neil Armstrong also said it all in eleven words.

Pay the bastard in Pesos. He’ll quickly change his mind about how he feels about “The United States of America” and those Founding Fathers on our bills.

My motto is this, if you hate America, get the F out..that simple..what is wonderful about America is that NO ONE is forcing ANYONE to stay here..they are free to leave..Colin and the rest of the idiots who think like him can GO

Armstrong messed up his line, too.

“One small step for A man; one giant leap for mankind.”

Instead, he left out the “a” and it doesn’t really make sense.

By saying just “man” seems to reference all of mankind.

“That’s one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind.”

But I guess if you’ve got an entire planet of people watching, kind of tough not to mess it up a bit!

At this point he doesn’t give a rip. $65 mil. of Kaep’s $126 mil contract is guaranteed. He can be cut tomorrow and never play another game and still be very, very rich. Obscene money for a QB with the IQ of a slug.

Only if you count “for’a” as one word.

Actually the sentiment “If your heart’s not in the country, get your ass out” goes back a lot further than this jackass author realizes. Reminds us how long the left has been plaguing us.

Did anyone hear CK’s press conference in which he couldn’t name a single specific thing wrong with the country.

America is manufacturing wise, politically and taker wise on the way to the toilet for a good flushing; but when it comes to minorities America is the best in the world regarding fairness and equality for all.

What irritates me abut this sports player is that he says that he can protest in this country because it is a free country while at the same time slamming our country as un just.

He is a jerk. He should go to China and protest.

I love you all but the story here is not Neal Armstrong.

For sure. “Love it or leave it.”

The left always changes the argument, “He has the right to free speech!”

Sure he does. I have the right not to pay my money for tickets to see him play or buy jerseys for his team.

The NFL refused the Dallas Cowboys last month when they wanted to add helmet stickers (small ones) to honor the murdered police officers there.

But the league stands behind this?

Isn’t this the fault of blacks at this point?

Obama is president. Last two AGs were black. Blacks are mayors in most of the major cities.

Is it ever not the white man’s fault?

Trump just threw a touchdown pass. If Kaepernick needs to sit down, maybe he needs to go sit on the bench. Maybe it would be better if Kaepernick was canned.
