I have a friend/former colleague who is white, and whose husband is from the Caribbean.
He is a mix of many interesting ethnicities....African, Indian, Chinese, etc. I often wonder how their children are going to feel when they grow-up and are forced to choose a little box on one of those stupid forms.
My daughter was in the college admissions process last year and she would not check they Asian box. I kept telling her, you won't get accepted anywhere with the white box checked. Sad that it's really come to that. She was 10th in her class (900 kids), decent SATs, etc. Though in fairness, I have to say the #1 kid, who was a white male, got a free ride offer to Harvard. BUT, he was a financial need kid too. Her good friend was #3 and got NADA. (she is white)
