Rarely has any Republican in recent times made such an overt effort to gain the votes of the black community in America, which has overwhelmingly voted Democrat for the last 50 years. Mr. Trump was accompanied by Ben and Candy Carson and Omarosa Manigault. After this speech, Mr. Trump was presented with a prayer shawl blessed in Israel and two Jewish heritage Study Bibles, one for him and one for his wife,Melania. The shawl was placed over his shoulders by Bishop Jackson in a touching display which was reminiscent of an anointing of someone set apart to do the work of the Lord. He was also given a lapel pin, which he asked to have placed on his lapel right away--the honors then being done by Bishop Jackson's wife, Dr. Jackson.
If Trump is elected, I hope he makes Bishop Jackson the official chaplain of the White House.
Here is a transcript, along with video, for future reference of today’s speech by Mr. Trump in Detroit.
