Former New York City mayor David Dinkins says he was never aware he had struck a bicyclist with his car earlier this summer.
Dinkins made the claim in response to a lawsuit filed Friday that says Dinkins left the scene after striking a bicycle deliveryman June 30.

“...when a man told him Dinkins’ car had been hit by a bicycle half a block away.”
Which is it? Did he hit a bicycle or did the bicycle hit him?
Does Bonfire of the Vanities apply to Democrats or is it reserved for Republicans?
In another article dinkins said that the bicyclist hit him. Now he says he wasn’t aware? He can’t have it both ways.
This is a tough one. Feeling more sorry for a former Democrat mayor or a city bicyclist.
Wow what is up with liberals? They don’t remember anything when something goes wrong with them.
“I don’t remember” Hillary ............and now
“I don’t remember” Dinkins
Denial, or don’t recall works wonders for RATS
Definitely the Hillary defense. He will walk.
He is 89 and wasn’t too sharp as mayor.
On Elementary, every NYC intersection has at least a half-dozen surveillance cameras focused on it from various angles. Get Gregson and Marcus to dig up the footage, Watson will review it, and Holmes will confront an environmentally incorrect CEO whose alibi isn’t quite air-tight.
At least they weren’t in a vehicle with Teddy Kennedy driving over a river. He couldn’t remember much either.
Yes. I have little for either.
Hey, “He can’t have it both ways”. Why not? Hillary can. Bill did. Harry Reid does.
Remember, regular rules of honesty don’t apply to Democrats. The same for rules of memory.
89 and driving in NYC with all that vehicle and pedestrian traffic?
Omigod.
Accident waiting to happen.
Happened to Robert Novak. Turned out he was fatally ill and didn’t know it.
Yeah, I forgot, and he drove a Vette.
I only wish Bob Grant were still here to comment on the poor “Washroom Attendant’s” incident.
Of course, Dinkins was also unaware that he was driving a car.
I have no idea what happened in this particular incident.
However, insurance scams are a way of life among certain segments of the population.
One common scam is for children on bicycles —coached by their parents, of course— to ride alongside a high-dollar automobile, and fist-thump the fender. Then holler, “Ow ow ow, I been hit.”
And out come the “witnesses” who have been lying in wait. You’re outnumbered. How convenient.
One is likely the momma of the “injured” child. She’s already agreed to share a portion of the winnings with the other “witnesses.”
Of course, momma will agree not to sue if you write a check right now.
Kids in my old neighborhood tried to pull this with me, but I was wise to it.
I saw them up ahead, stopped, turned off ignition a split second BEFORE the kid rode his bike into my car and started hollering. I called police and insurance guy immediately.
Told ‘em I planned to prosecute for fraud.
Boom. Over.
