The driver killed was in Putin’s official BMW. The other driver, in the Mercedes that crossed the median, apparently survived. If anything his car looked worse, so I wonder if Mr. They-Haven’t-Said-His-Name-Yet favorite official chauffeur was wearing a seat belt. That and if you’ve got a choice of driving alongside crazy Russians in a BMW or a Mercedes, go with the Benz.

Both cars sustained heavy damage. The passenger compartment was deformed on the BMW. The Merc seemed to have fared a little better, the passenger compartment looked relatively intact. From the condition of the BMW, the driver would have been thrown from the vehicle, had he not been wearing seat belts as some have speculated.
