To: Wyrd bið ful aræd

Lots of us FReeper gun owners sympathize with our brothers in the nonfree states, believe me. We don’t think there’s a liberal voting majority in them, quite the contrary, there’s a conservative and/or rural majority dominated by the liberal politics of one megacity in the state.

PA, IA, NY, VA, WA, OR, all fit this model, IMO. Am I correct?

You’re correct; I’d argue the same model applies to NY; with NYC and the Burbs moving the rest of the state leftwards.

I agree. Western New York and the northern part of PA along the NY border is my favorite part of the country.

Yup. Rhode Island and Massachusetts (and Vermont to a lesser degree) they only states I've ever encountered where there are tons of libs among the rural people as well as the city folks.

Iowa is actually not dominated by big cities. The Dem margin of victory comes from white Catholics, rural as well as sub/urban, in eastern Iowa.
