I cross the border regularly to attend classical music concerts in downtown Vancouver BC, and it's smoked openly on the streets even though it's not legal. I walked one evening from the Stadium stop on Skytrain to the Vancouver Playhouse when the Canucks happened to be in the playoffs, and everybody on the street was smoking it.

Saanich is on Vancouver Island near Victoria, the provincial capital. This is more like suburban moms smoking it.

the kids out of their hair after a long summer.

I thought that part was pretty funny and Staples should use it in their "Most Wonderful Time of the Year" commercial.

Getting so stoned you're speeding in a school zone is disgusting.

My husband found a 1918 4th grade reader in an old attic (among other antique roadshow items; some dating back to the late 1800s when the house was built)

It served to reinforce how much the “educational” system has been dumbed down. Cleary the content in there including poetry, history, geography, was what one would consider 2nd year associates degree material today.

As a man I loathe most women. They seem to be more interested in anything but being nurturing and selfless when it comes to their kids. And I see they treat their husbands with disdain and disrespect. If I can see that when they are out showing their good side, I wonder how bad it is when they are in private.

*************************

Good grief. As a woman, I do not loathe most men. I am beginning to wonder why there are men on this site who hate women.

I married the high school homecoming queen who looked amazingly like the young Norma Jean. We went to the same school, church, and later college together. She’s my best friend on the planet and has been since high school. We celebrated our 30th last May. She remains beautiful, she’s a wonderful involved mother, she’s a highly skilled CPA and financial analyst, and best of all, she’s a godly woman who loves me. She’s also a conservative, she’s thrifty, and knows how to shoot. She’s easy-going and has never been a nagger. I can’t remember our last argument. I hear what other men say about their wives and realize I’ve been blessed. I don’t know why the Lord has smiled on me so.

I’ve been married 30 years too. My wife is from Shanghai. She’s 57 looks like 37. She has a fireball temper but I sort of like that

Over my thirty-five year working career I had the opportunity to meet lots of my associate’s children and then later see them as adults. My impression is that children of alcoholics and drug users did not fair as well as the children of people in similar starting situations who did not use. The question comes up is it nature, children of dependent people, or nurture. It could be both but I think the children of non-users have a leg up on the children of users. (When I tried pointing that out to a couple they got extremely offended. I already knew their kid was using pot from other sources and they were in denial. I think that pretty much ended the relationship. I never did find out how the boy turned out. Maybe he’s a CEO. But I doubt it.)

57+ with the best woman. She likes NASCAR, likes shooting, fishing & hunting. She likes speed around in our Corvette. She’ got a great sense of humor, is a great cook, likes to tip a few. She finds LIBS mentally impaired. Fun is our thing...life is too short to not be happy. There are some great women out there.

That is so romantic! Thank you so much for sharing. :)

My husband and I have been married since 1983. We both love shooting, fishing, cooking, traveling, politics, music, reading and dogs. :)

You’re right. Life is far too short.

Then I woke up, Mom and Dad
Are rolling on the couch
Rolling numbers, rock and rolling
Got my Kiss records out
Mommy’s alright, Daddy’s alright
They just seem a little weird.

If my Jr. High math teach had looked like that I might have done better. As it was, she was a WWII veteran; I think she was a Marine tank on Guadalcanal or something.

Neither do I. I would guess that, statistically speaking, FR is populated by people who are at least middle-aged, and remember what this country used to be like. There are welcome exceptions, of course.

From your keyboard to my hubby’s ex-shrew’s ears; who happens to be ironically a child protective worker who remarried a well heeled yes ma’am man.
