When was the last ‘fairly low cost’ government handout not eventually turned into an out of control, massively expensive entitlement?

If it encourages working families to have children then I’m not against it at all. The birth rate is too low. This is a limited program by definition.

I understand your skepticism. Of course Congress can always expand such programs. That said, right now Trump needs to steal voters that are on the Dem fringe but like such a proposal. There’s too much on the line to be worried about such a proposal. The fact that I immediately saw liberal heads exploding was a sign this might have exactly the impact they’re going for.
