A British man pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. federal court to trying to grab a police officers gun and open fire at a June campaign rally for presidential candidate Donald Trump in Las Vegas.
Standing before a judge in orange jail clothes with the word detainee across his back, Michael Steven Sandford acknowledged that he has been treated in the past for mental illness.
Court documents say Sandford previously told a federal agent that he drove from California to Las Vegas with a plan to kill Trump.

Thanks for the update, I was wondering what had happened to him.
Under terms of his plea agreement, Sandford could face between 18 and 27 months in a U.S. prison
Only 18-27 months! Incredible!
He is desperate to return to the U.K. to be near his family
Desparate? I bet he is - anything rather than doing time in a U.S. prison!
he has no ties with the U.S.A.
No ties? Then why was he living in the U.S.A.? He had a girlfriend at the time didn't he?
"The result was that no one was injured," said U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden
NO! The result was that murder was prevented.

I’d like to see an agreement where he serves time and gets treatment in a British prison. The sooner he’s out of the US, the better.
