Ford to move all small-car production to Mexico from U.S.: CEO

Ford Motor Co Chief Executive Officer Mark Fields said on Wednesday that all of the company's small-car production will be leaving U.S. plants and heading to lower-cost Mexico.

"We will have migrated all of our small-car production to Mexico and out of the United States," over the next two to three years, Fields told Wall Street analysts at an investor conference hosted by the automaker.

Earlier this year, Ford said it would invest $1.6 billion in Mexico for small-car production to start in 2018.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has criticized Ford for moving U.S. jobs to Mexico. Fields has responded that as a global company, Ford must compete by making solid business decisions.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Ford's plans.

Ford is expected to post pretax profits of $10.2 billion in 2016, and in the past 18 months has made record pretax profit. The company said earlier Wednesday it expects profits to decline in 2017 as it invests in vehicle development, and hopes to improve its financial performance in 2018.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV said in April it will realign North American plants to emphasize truck and Jeep production over car output. The changes are expected to be completed by early 2018.

Ok, I’ll Bite. That might account for a Modest Increase of 5-10%, NOT 50%-80%

But for argument sake let’s say it does, what does that leave us???

FORD is Trying to KILL Mexicans by Selling Unsafe cars
or
FORD is Trying to KILL THE PLANET by Selling High Polluting Cars and then Blame it on MEXICANS

Either way it looks Bad for FORD!

Why can’t Ford profitably build small cars in the USA? It’s a three letter answer. The first letter is “U.” The last is “W.” You probably don’t need to buy a clue.

They can't find a place in the South to go to?

This should help Trump in MI.

And will they lower the price of a Ford F150 since they will now pay workers $4.99 per hour? Tariff the chit out of them!

Remember Ford was an anti-Semite who traded with the Nazi’s.

Detroit hasn’t been competitive in small cars since the ‘64 VW Beetle. Good ole Uncle Sam with his draconian emissions and mileage mandates required uneconomical production of small cars to meet fleet averages. Losses on small cars are made up by higher prices on their other products. Typical triumvirate of big gov, big bidness, and labor unions.

Give me a Toyota made by non-union Americans. Better value plus starving unions and their protection racket enabled by raw political power.

I don’t worship any company, but only Ford builds a reliable pickup.

Chrysler was Germany’s big buddy.

That’s where they got the VW (Desoto airflow redesigned smaller)

No problem.

What Ford and Mexico will do is attempt to import thousands of these vehicles into the U.S. on the backs of unemployed Americans in decline. No doubt they’ll be smuggling in hundreds of tons of dope hidden in these new vehicles like the cartels are already doing with countless other products.

We’ll not only need to tax the sh*t out of these products but thousands of these vehicles them will need to be routinely dismantled and searched one at a time to ensure that corrupt country and this slimy unscrupulous company do not continue with this endless conga of drugs coming flooding in.

The conga line of drugs will continue, this time smuggled in brand new Fords made in Mexico.

Good point! Hadn't thought of that.

The gas tanks will probably be stuffed. Customs will just wave through thousands while checking just a few.

Tomato trucks, oil tankers, washing machines...heard about all of those in the news decades ago. Now they'll have a self propelled smuggling machine! And it's name won't be Jose..

Well, it’s already happening with many products and people flooding in from Mexico.

I’ll be honest, it’s my understanding that many in the U.S. government are on cartel payrolls. From the very top to bottom, corrupt to the core. $$
