I think that you’ve been fooled by the poor writing in this article. Caddell used to work for Jimmy Carter, way back when, as a pollster. However, he’s a traditional (which is to say, patriotic) Democrat. I’ve seen him on TV numerous times decrying the direction of the Dem Party, and Obama and Clinton in particular.
He’s also on record as saying numerous times that Trump could win - long before anyone but a very few thought it possible.
