Authorities on the island of Lesvos called for the immediate evacuation Tuesday of thousands of refugees to the Greek mainland after a fire gutted a detention camp following protests. But European Union officials appeared cool to the idea.
More than 4,000 people were housed at the camp in Moria on Lesvos where the fire broke out late Monday, destroying or damaging tents and trailers. No injuries were reported at the camp, about 8 kilometers (5 miles) north of the island's main town.
Nine migrants were arrested on public disturbance charges after the chaotic scenes.
Families with young children hastily packed up their belongings and fled into the nearby fields as the fire raged after nightfall. Many were later given shelter at volunteer-run camps.
“We have been saying for a very long time that overcrowding on the islands must be eased,” regional governor Christiana Kalogirou told private Skai television.
“On the islands of the northeast Aegean, official facilities have a capacity of 5,450 places, but more than 10,500 people are there. There is an immediate need to take people off the islands because things will get even more difficult,” she said.
More than 60,000 migrants and refugees are stranded in transit in Greece, and those who arrived after March 20 have been restricted to five Aegean islands under an EU-brokered deal to deport them back to Turkey. But the agreement has been fraught with delays.

They’ve been trying for months and months to process these people off the Islands.....to date European countries are content to see them remain there despite the conflicts, protests and overall strain on the citizens and their resources.
Might be they think the citizens will simply move and make the Islands into ‘refugee transit depots’...seems that way to me since the Global Elites intend to keep the flow of “human capital” moving into Western countries as the “normal” process of transforming the entire world populations to fit their agenda of International World Governance.
One of the “five pillars of islam’ is “charity”.......I guess their muslim brothers and sisters on Saudi kinda forgot about that one..................

Couple reasons for this....most of all Islam teaches them they are to conquer by migration...so they won’t be going to Muslim countries obviously. ...Islamic countries leaderships are funding them to move into Western countries, build Mosques etc....run for Government offices etc....(Stealth Jihad).
The other is...these people are being ‘corralled’ into western countries who have the infustructures and programs set to educate, train and equip refugees and migrants to have a “fair shot” at living a better life among modern socieities....thus it’s a movement of “Human capital”.
Their home countries to not have the facilities nor the capability in their infastructures to offer this.....it’s cheaper moving them to established countries then try to do so in undeveloped countries. This is the Globalist movement to integrate other cultures into societies making them “multiculural” societies. In which over time they will control....and which frees their home states from conflict so they can get to the natural resources.
Read the recent UN Declaration signed by 50 nations regarding protecting the rights of refugees and migrants and the flow of human capital...it’s not going to stop and in fact increased and facilitated by every nation, who will be expected to educate, train, house, medical help and offer citizenship to every refugee into their new home “of choice” once they have all the plans in place. ....It will be ongoing.
It’s really simple as to why they are not fleeing to muslim countries... those countries are already muslim! The goal of Islam is to dominate and in order to dominate you need bodies in mass quantities hence go to where the countries aren’t muslim and make it so.
One other thing that muslims have done throughout their existence. They have gone into a foreign land taken over and acquired the technology as their own. Islam hasn’t invented anything they have only acquired it from nations, peoples and lands they have conquered. They claim Algebra. Nope Algebra was invented by the Egyptians and enhanced by the Greeks. They claim the zero. The zero has been in different cultures over the centuries. China had the zero long before muslimes had it. Astronomy and navigation was always a work in progress. Heck the Vikings had better navigation than muslims. The sextant wasn’t even an arab design it comes from India. Chemistry and alchemy was practiced the world over. The holy grail of Alchemy was not a Islamic one. Their mosques are the copies of the architecture of a Christian Cathedral/Church in Constantinople at the time they took it over from the Romans. Mooslimes will destroy what they have conquered, build a mosque on it and claim the land and people as their own. Anyone that does not fall in line with this...dies. Its much easier to call it their own when no one is around to argue with you on it. It has nothing to do with education, other than the fact that they need to learn the technology before they claim it. When the word technology is used in this post the context is that of the inventions and use of the inventions in that given time period.
