Visit beautiful downtown Calipatria. The flagpole in the center of town flies the American flag at sea level...135 feet above sea level. The Gulf of California is south. The land between the desert floor and sea is a whole 4 feet above sea level. Just shake a little crack in that path and the desert will fill with sea water.

Calipatria looks way more visitable (is that a word?) than the western shore of the sea. I worked on a file for a property in Salton City the other day and it looked almost post-apocalyptic.
