The Commission on Presidential Debates reported on Friday that there were in fact issues with Donald Trump’s microphone at the Debate Monday evening at Hofstra university in New York.
Following the debate, Trump told the press that they “gave me a defective mic. Did you notice that? My mic was defective within the room,” CNN reports. Trump posed the question: “Was that on purpose?”
While it may be too early to call it anything other than a technical malfunction, the Commission on Presidential Debates said “there were issues regarding Donald Trump’s audio that affected the sound level in the debate hall.”

The whole debate it seems as well as the upcoming debates. Every freakin’ moderator is a lib. Let’s see how the left would like it if Hannity or Rush moderated, or better yet Ted Nugent. Let’s see Ted Nugent ask Hillary about the 2nd amendment. This is outrageous, I don’t know why Trump is agreeing with this, maybe he thinks the public will notice this and turn against Hillary?

Now, that is just brilliant; who was allowing someone from the Clinton campaign to “hang around” the debate podium before the debate began?? Why weren’t the Trump people allowed to have one of their staffers “hang around” the debate podium? What else did this individual do asides from “fix” Trump’s microphone?

Stuff has been posted here...He had papers in his hand and I believe he picked them up from Hillary’s podium and then he went over by Trump’s podium. He is a Clinton operative called “the cleaner”

Well .. I have a rather snarky comment regarding the head of the Presidential Debates Commission: She looked like a HAG; I mean .. her hair looked like she hadn’t washed or combed it in a very long time. She was barely coherent; and since her outfit seemed right out of the 60’s, I’m guessing she is liberal to the nth degree.
That being said .. I’m not surprised they might allow somebody to tamper with Trump’s mic; or that they would hire their regular people and then not check to make sure they had done a good job. This is how they operate. Lying, cheating, lying, cheating, lying, cheating.
When it was known that a "special podium" was being built, Trump should have had surrogates inspect the building of such a podium, and keep an eye on any funny business that would or could go on. If Clinton refuses to have the podium inspected before and after the debate (before Clinton's cronies bum rush the stage, picking up evidence), Trump calls the debate off.
Trump better have EVERY ASPECT of the next debate thoroughly inspected.

This is why you don’t agree to do debates with the other party in charge of them! Debates should be run by conservatives and liberal moderators who can ask questions respectfully. Enough of this acting like the moderators aren’t voting for the democrat!

What happened was that the gain was up pretty high to pick up Trumps voice due to the distance of his mouth from the microphone due to his height. The angle was such that is was picking up his nasal sounds when he breathed .
The Tech turned the gain down to eliminate the nasal sounds which in turn decreased the volume pickup.
I noticed the nasal sounds went away after the adjustment but so did the depth and fullness of Trumps voice.
The tech should have adjusted the equalizer down at the high frequencies and he could have eliminated the nasal sounds without decreasing the gain.
3 or 4 minutes before start time, Holt was doing microphone 'fixes'. Did you happen to see that? I'm sure it's available for replay somewhere.

I wish I could agree, but being an AV Tech myself I must admit that there are variables that cannot be considered.
1. The microphone was a directional vs an omni-directional. It picks up a very small field, but is intense within that location field. Trump is tall. If a microphone was not tested with the same person who will be speaking variables burn you. Vocal tones, volume, distance to the microphone....
The wrong angle on a microphone will cause the breath to pop the diaphragm.
Just having people in the room changes signal transmission. I’ve tested microphones for conferences, several hundred people walked in and sat down, their bodies blocked the signal and I had to raise the receiver higher...
The microphones used for the debate were hard wired. Much less chance of signal interference.
Both Trump and Hillary also wore wireless lapel microphones. That was the wire and the transmitter pack you saw in Hillary’s back.
It appeared that the Tech switched to the lavaliere microphone for Trump as his voice differential did not change much when he moved from the podium microphone.

Agree. Fail on sound tech’s part, he should have adjusted the mic for his height.
And they both had on wireless lavs, mix tech could have mixed in a little lav (but not too much because of phase problems between lectern mic and lav).
