Kaepernick and gratitude
American Thinker ^ | October 2, 2016 | Lloyd Marcus

A black relative in his late 50s told me I should be more sympathetic toward Colin Kaepernick's grievances with America; more understanding of young blacks dissing their country.

I say, “Hogwash!”

My 88-year-old black dad might have a reason to dis our National Anthem, but not Kaepernick. Kaepernick is a wealthy bi-racial pro-athlete whom America has been extremely good to. His grievances are rooted in ingratitude and lies promoted by Black Lives Matter.

Dad told me when he was a young Merchant Marine, after several months at sea their ship arrived at a maritime base in St. Petersburg, Florida. The crew was extremely excited about their much-anticipated shore leave. Then, Dad and his fellow black seaman were told they could not leave the ship due to the town's curfew for blacks. Dad said his outraged fellow black seaman exploded into an endless rant of cussing. Dad said he cried.

Dad said they were the first blacks to arrive at that base. The two blacks eventually had to leave the ship because it was scheduled for decommission. On that U.S. Maritime base, Dad said they had to be accompanied everywhere by bodyguards. Meals were eaten separate from white seaman. They had to call a black cab company for a ride into town. Blacks could only enter the movie theater via stairs in the back of the building, which led to a ticket booth and seating in the balcony.

Dad told me years ago how white seaman on that base trapped and attempted to hang him. White shipmates saved Dad's life.

If you take a look at Kapaerwhatever’s BLM girlfriend, it is pretty obvious he is being led around by his peepee.

I would listen to this man’s father and not hold against him any grievance he had against Americans & America.

Now, some politically controlled black groups are only trying to perpetuate a level of racism that no longer exists in America.

Liberals claim this “protest” during the National Anthem is starting a positive dialog, which is horse manure. You don’t start any dialog with “your mother is ugly” or with “your country is ugly”. This is purely a provocation, intended to divide us for this presidential election year.

If they wanted an open discussion, they would respond to “all lives matter” with “we agree”, instead of shutting down any attempt at communication that deviates in the slightest point from their orthodoxy. All lives do matter, and we need to protect police lives while also conducting ourselves in a manner that avoids provoking police force. We need to protect innocent civilian lives by police training, but also by civilians conducting ourselves in a respectful and non-threatening manner. Today, I watched a video on what to do when you are stopped by the police while carrying a legal concealed weapon. All lives matter, so I paid attention. Responding to something as innocuous as “all lives matter” with “you’re a racist” does not promote dialog. It just divides us - as intended.

Liberals are evil, and the #BlackLivesMatter thugs with their intolerant and anti-American rhetoric are just the latest and most malicious example of leftist hate.

I would bet a limb that Kaepernick became a dime-store Marxist precisely because he was brainwashed at a secular college. Haven’t seen any indication that he was infected by either his biological mother or his adoptive parents. I’d bet Howard Zinn is on his bookshelf.

I’m tired of this whole “dialog” hogwash anyway! It’s yet another bogus wish, because we are CONSTANTLY talking about this non-existent problem, that bogus premise that blacks are so oppressed.

Another Halfrican that wishes to be a victim, like so many pure blacks. They love the attention that whining and crying gets.

There was a time in D.C., between the Civil War and about 1970 when white and black people sounded exactly the same.

Meh, let Kaepernick go cry in his 25 million dollars. My GAF is broken and at the repair shop.

“I would bet a limb that Kaepernick became a dime-store Marxist precisely because he was brainwashed at a secular college.”

Actually I think it was primarily his BLM girlfriend that did it.

In absolute numbers, not just percents, the number of anti-white racists in this country is much larger than the number of anti-black racists. I’m tired of pretending there is something useful to dialog about. If whites will treat black people as individuals unless and until the black proves that he identifies as black rather than as American, and if blacks will treat white people as individuals unless and until the white proves that he identifies as white rather than as American, we can move past this nonsense. The actual fraction of whites who care about skin color is negligible.

My feelings toward blacks who follow a black identity movement are the same as my feelings toward whites who follow a white identity movement - those who identify by skin color are racists. I have no interest in dialog with a racist, regardless of the racist’s skin color. My feelings toward those who say “all whites are racist” and those who say “black people cannot be racist” are the same. Both are false generalizations that prejudge based on skin color. That is prejudice - racism.

Why would anyone want a dialog with a racist, whether with a Klan type like Hillary’s mentor, or with a “BlackLivesMatter thug like Barack Hussein’s minions?

I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that his white parents, nice as they are, are secular, since he did turn Musloid. Not that that never happens in Christian families.

It started in his godless, government owned and run, socialist-entitlement **public** school!

Remember. Nearly every teacher in this nation was trained by godless Marxists in Marxist run colleges and universities. And...Progressives have controlled government school curriculum and teacher development from its inception in the mid-1800s.

Finally....Children in godless classrooms **will** learn to think and reason godlessly. They must just to cooperate in the godless classroom, read their godless textbooks, and do their godless assignments.

Agree but I’d express it in, say, more colorful terms.

Apparently Kaepernick is taking up somebody else’s offenses that are none of his business. He will eventually get the reward for it. A big kick in the rear from both sides for interfering when he puts his oar in somebody else’s regatta.
