Yeah. I believe trade disputes were part of the problem in the Pacific.
The trade disputes were Japan trying to block shipments to China.
The US responded by blocking oil trade to Japan but by this time the fighting in Asia was well under way.
I listen to NPR too .... But place a blockade on most of what they say on politics.
