Trump declares war on GOP, says ‘the shackles have been taken off’
The Washington Post ^ | October 11th, 2016 | By Sean Sullivan, Robert Costa and Dan Balz

Donald Trump declared war on the Republican establishment Tuesday, lashing out at House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (Wis.), Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) and other GOP elected officials as his supporters geared up to join the fight amid extraordinary turmoil within the party just four weeks before Election Day.

One day after Ryan announced he would no longer campaign on Trump’s behalf, the GOP nominee said as part of a barrage of tweets that the top-ranking Republican is “weak and ineffective” and is providing “zero support” for his candidacy. Trump also declared that “the shackles have been taken off” him, liberating him to “fight for America the way I want to.”

Trump called McCain “foul-mouthed” and accused him with no evidence of once begging for his support. The 2008 nominee pulled his endorsement following a Friday Washington Post report about a 2005 video in which Trump is heard making vulgar comments about forcing himself on women sexually.

“I wouldn’t want to be in a foxhole with a lot of these people, that I can tell you. ... especially Ryan,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News Channel. He said if he is elected president, Ryan might be “in a different position.”

In perhaps the most piercing insult, Trump said his party is harder to deal with than even Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, whom conservatives loathe. Yet he also released a new TV ad featuring footage of Clinton coughing and stumbling during a recent bout with pneumonia — signaling that few issues are out of bounds for his scorched-earth campaign.

He needs an ad of Nam vet speaking about when your position is taking all the incoming fire, you are in the right place to do the mission the most good. You don’t want to be there, no one likes being shot at. etc etc etc

As I said when he announced, his best chance was to run against Hillary and Jeb together. I think he believed that if he won a major party nomination fair and square, his path would be easier.

Perhaps it’s not too late, even now, to expose the forces arrayed against us. But he has not much time.

Burn, baby, burn.

Considering this was a coup by the Republican elite Trump is correct.

The democrats and republican share a common goal; keeping the status quo. This is not the first election that an outsider is seeking the WH and looking to change things up. This is however, the 1st nominee to get close. DJT is a threat to everyone in D.C. and they are getting to together to make sure nothing changes the status quo. I get incensed realizing the senators and congressmen are meant to be the counter balance to executive powers and yet accomplish nothing. Congress works approximately 139 days per year and gets paid on avg. 174K, and that's if they show up. I want that gig. I am a Independent and I can see the hand writing on the wall. If the GOP doesn't get its act together, they will loose the WH for well more than 8 years. The democrats will ensure continuity through immigration by creating legislation allowing everyone including non-citizens to vote. The electoral map will be redrawn to ensuring blue and purple states become red and anything else they can think of. They are almost there.

The MSM is in a death spiral. They don’t have the power they once did, and it’s diminishing every day. Pray for our success and a victory, as the start of more victories. He got this far with it all arrayed against him and he’s keeping on.

Let the republican party (as a communist comrade-style party) fall. That’s all it is to both of them - party first.

Dare we hope the end of the GOPe is near? No one else has had the stones to take on the Uniparty. This is an amazing move by Trump.

I live in the wrong part of the country to have much to be upbeat about. I live in one of the lesser liberal areas of California (though still quite left leaning), and I get my choice of two DEM candidates for our House seat. Having to rely on the rest of the country to bail us out give one a feeling of no control over our political destiny.

Exact same sentiment here in the Democratic People's Republic of Soviet New York.

Yes! I have learned never to count Trump out. The MSM has written his political obituary so many times in the past year I’ve lost count.

I would imagine his answer is yes. And I concur. With the right leader who understands how to use the power and persuasion of the office? Yep. At this point it's the Congressmen who should be concerned, and likely are.☺

I love this guy more all the time. The GOPe is the enemy within, even more evil because of their duplicity.

I’m worried his senior staff is going to all resign at some orchestrated moment, and then Pence withdraws for the coup de grace.

When you think of it, it’s amazing.

Trump had it all, wealth, fame, family...and now he’s being slimed and slandered by a corrupt, lying media, two corrupt political parties, and for what?

I think it’s as simple as he wants the country he grew up in to be there for his grandchildren.

As simple and powerful as that. That’s why he’s going to win bigly.

Well said BradyLS, All we have to do is vote, and inform others. We’ve been begging for a fighter, and now we have one. I can’t imagine anyone else that would have survived what the GOPe and MSM have put Trump through.

The GOP is finished as a major party, they just don't realize it yet. They are in a coma right now, and when they awake, over half of their support will be gone. My wife's and my side of the family were lifelong Republicans, we are all done with them.

This latest coup attempt against Trump was the last straw.

Trump received over 14 million votes for his primary win.....a record.

Just imagine what would happen if just HALF of them, thats 7 million, started pounding the pavement for The Donald?

Yes its war, and we need those 7 million soldiers.
