Someone on FR did a breakdown on this a few years back with maps that showed exactly what would happen if we just counted the popular vote.
It wasn’t pretty.

Lakeside Granny you are absolutely correct. THe DEM machine would turn out so many more illegals, and voters in New York, Illinois, and California if a majority nationwide vote were the determining factor.
What would be interesting is a district by district electoral vote many districts in California, Illinois etc would be red not blue. Yes, we would lose a few in Texas and Florida would be split but most states that are now red would stay overwhelmingly red. THink even about Virginia. DEM voters tend to be concentrated.
