At the beginning of 2016, protesters went to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to in what would result in a 41-day occupation of the Federal property. Ten months later, a jury found seven of these protesters not guilty.

I’m just the opposite. I almost never go to either site.
In fact I can’t tell when I was last at either.
But I do think many don’t check for other threads on the
topic they are posting. A key word or two in the title and
the search function will find most dups.

Jury nullification is a constitutional doctrine which allows juries to acquit criminal defendants who are technically guilty, but who do not deserve punishment. It occurs in a trial when a jury reaches a verdict contrary to the judge’s instructions as to the law.
