The law firm claims it was mislabeled as a bonus, when it was really a payment that resulted in a reduction in partner equity. They changed the label a few years ago after an accountant pointed out that such reimbursement bonuses for political contributions were illegal.

Lawyers lie.

If each and every employee received the exact amount (even rounded up) they contributed to the Democratic Party as a “bonus”, it is prima facie evidence of an illegal PAC / money-laundering RICO scheme.

One or two of the employees, especially if they have left the company, will break under pressure and testify for immunity.

In “Tucker: The Man and His Dream” Jeff Bridges makes a quote on lawyers and politicians - it’s hilarious. Great movie if you haven’t seen it. Lloyd Bridges was awesome.
