WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Whatever else this year’s bizarre and destructive presidential campaign achieves, it may well sound the death knell for legacy news media. Newspapers have long since been doomed by the digital revolution and the collapse of their economic model. New waves of buyouts and layoffs recently announced by the New York Times, USA Today and the Wall Street Journal mark another step by print media toward extinction. Broadcast networks, too, face severe difficulties as new technologies and changes in viewing habits transform the television industry and bring new challenges to news operations.

Do these editors know something that tens of millions of American voters are missing? Whose job is it really to decide what poses a threat to our democracy — a handful of editors in the corporate media or the voters? Yes that sums it up!

Yes. Great point. The disintegration and death of the main stream media can’t happen soon enough for me.

The Ministry of Propaganda is on its last legs.
No one believes them anymore.

The fourth branch is usurping power at an alarming pace. Already it is more powerful than the SCOTUS or the Congress when it comes to swaying public opinion and steering policy. Neither Congress or SCOTUS will go against the wishes of the media.

MSM needs to die ASAP.

We need to prevent ownership of major newspapers (NYT) by foreign nationals. Undue influence on our political system.

President Trump should not issue them press passes to cover the WH as they proved incapable of being journalists. We all know they won’t cover him fairly so why let them in?

The Minstry Of Propoganda is now closed. You can pick up your things on the way out

It can't happen soon enough and as painful an end as possible. They deserve it.

When ABC hired George Stephanopoulos, an absolute partisan Clinton hack, and tried to pass him off as a legitimate Newsman the MSM jumped the shark.

Devoutly to be wished.

Why would anyone subscribe or tune into a medium that is provably, demonstrably biased? Unless it’s simply to confirm one’s biases and feel good about the lies one tells oneself.

It is time to use the ANTI-TRUST laws to break up the big media conglomerates.

Just SIX billionaires control 90% of everything you see, hear, and read, from the internet to the radio.
This election has PROVEN collusion and fixing among them.

Wikileaks is doing that.

For me, the most interesting stories of wikileaks are

1) the absolute control the DNC and Clinton have over major media, and what total suck-ups many so-called “journalists” are

2) How America’s financial and political elite govern themselves. The constant favor-seeking, rent-seeking, back-scratching that goes on. Podesta is just a modern ward-boss, running a modern day, fully corrupt Tammany Hall.

Agreed...This really blows apart the giant “suckfest” going on between giant media and the Democratic Party.

The worst part about this mess: it could hugely hurt the Journalism schools at Syracuse University, Columbia University, Northwestern University and the University of Missouri.
