His "bombshell" announcement about re-opening the investigation had one purpose... to hold back the flood of doubt about Hillary for 8 days.

It had the exact opposite effect.

I'd also point out that his 10/28 letter to Congress caught the Clinton campaign completely off guard. If this was part of any kind of conspiracy, they would have been much better prepared to deal with it. Even the simple, non-specific nature of the letter opened up a flood of doubt and speculation about Hillary Clinton.

Keep in mind that if the Clinton campaign was caught off guard by the 10/28 letter, then that would make it a certainty that the Justice Department leadership was caught off guard, too -- because they surely would have tipped Clinton off to it.

The man laid out a clear case for indictment and then stunned everyone by doing nothing to her.

I'm not a Comey fan, but in his defense he had no authority to indict her -- no matter what that crooked Attorney General boss of his said.

Comey's actions in that particular situation were not those of Pontius Pilate washing his hands and handing Jesus over to be crucified by the Romans ... they were those of Pilate washing his hands and handing Jesus back to the Sanhedrin.

“Comey’s hand was forced by the NYPD’s investigation of Weiner.

Not because he was fighting the DOJ.”

It was likely both!

Hard to make a final decision about him. He's obviously not as principled as they say but he seems to have found out that he does have gonads.

Like everything else going on - time and events will tell.

I'd love to be able to reassess him and come out with a better picture.

Actually, irrespective of Comey’s motives in passing on the indictment in July, his move last week was perfectly timed. The RATs now have no way to replace HItlary, and I would be very surprised if Trump’s pending win isn’t a landslide. So n a perverse way, we should all “thank” Comey for his late-breaking notification. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and I think Comey isn’t Hitlary’s friend.

Well, we can all see just how well that’s working out now can’t we? The support for Hillary is collapsing minute by minute!

We should thank the NYPD investigators.

They discovered the emails.

Comey was about to get exposed.

I tend to agree. NYPD having back-ups of all of it made any continued DOJ obstruction untenable and gave him independent outside - and public - corroboration. I don’t know whether that leverage was used on Comey to act or whether Comey used it on Lynch to break the logjam???

It had the exact opposite effect.

Comey had 2 choices. First choice was to do nothing, and risk rogue agents going public... which would legitimize everything WikiLeaks has been showing us by providing real FBI investigative material. That would have sunk Hillary.

By "re-opening" the investigation he effectively shut down the rogue agents (at least long enough to get past 11/8). Sure that had an impact, but IMHO far less than the alternative. Most libs don't believe the WikiLeaks stuff... they see it as some dubious source generating noise. If real FBI documents and agents had become public, that would have been much more credible and damaging.

It was a bit of a hail Mary pass, but I think it will pay off for him and Hillary (and the already in-place corrupt DOJ and others).

I don't believe Comey's goal is to get Hillary Clinton elected. Once he knew early in October that there was a boatload of information on Anthony Weiner's computer that related to the FBI investigations into the Clinton e-mail server and the Clinton Foundation, he had four options at that point in time:

1. Whitewash it completely, and pretend it didn't exist.

2. Stall until after the election, and figure out what to do then.

3. Send a letter to Congress immediately (around October 14th, from what I've seen), telling them that the facts laid out in his prior testimony had changed.

4. Wait several weeks and then send a letter to Congress, telling them that the facts laid out in his prior testimony had changed.

Option #1 was not really a feasible option, because the NYPD's involvement in the Weiner investigation meant that the information was also in the hands of people outside the FBI.

Option #2 would have been the easiest course of action to take, and would have been most effective in helping Hillary Clinton win the election.

Option #3 would have damaged Clinton's campaign, but would also have left enough time for them to come up with a strategy to minimize the damage and win the election anyway.

The fact that Comey chose Option #4 -- which was by far the most damaging to Clinton's campaign -- is very telling.

‘If FBI Director James Comey is the honorable and principled man that he has in the past shown himself to be...’

Hahahahahaha... that’s a hot one.

Perhaps Comey, who has seen the evidence, went to Loretta privately, briefed her about the newly discovered data, and said he was going to ask for a warrant. She refused, for whatever reason, so Comey went to Congress.

Comey threw a Hail Mary to the idiots in Congress. Hopefully, they will not fumble this time, and score a touchdown.

I continued to read on, in spite of the patently false first sentence.

Interesting spin that gets to the nut of the issue: comedy is covering his own backside in case this heads south for the ruling elite. It’s really a no lose from his perspective: if Trump wins, he can show how he was “getting to the nut of the matter.” If the witch wins, this is all dropped as quickly as it was last time. Either way, comedy has hedged his bets and he doesn’t go to jail.

If Hillary wins, does anyone here actually thing this will go anywhere... given what we know about the Justice Department, Obama and Hillary's powerful friends throughout Congress and other parts of government?

I hate to be a wet blanket, but I'm a realist. There's so much money and power at stake here, it would be an uphill battle to bring her to justice if she's elected.

Our only hope now is the actual vote. Yes, there's going to be a record amount of election fraud... but if there are enough votes in red counties in states to overwhelm the election fraud in blue cities, he can win. That's what I'm hoping for at this point. I do think it's doable... so praying that it happens that way.

“Hopefully, the elderly skank doesn’t win on Tuesday.”

And that’s what everything rests on. Either America drains the swamp and justice is allowed to move forward...or we put a dictator into total, absolute power and everything, along with many people, disappears.

It’s all up to what happens Tuesday...see my tagline.
