Now how about the Reagan Democrats in Pittsburgh, PA voting for Trump that made the state go R for the first time in decades? It takes both Philly and the Burgh to make the state blue. Philly gave Trump only 15% of the vote but the Burgh gave him 40%.

Thank you to your people for teaching us how important Liberty is that we must be willing to stand up politically and fight and not let the moment pass! The Cuban-American community is always a great symbol of love of Liberty. I often use the Cuban people as a teaching example to remind Americans of what we could become and the situation we could find ourselves in if we do not continue to be vigilant.

I went to college with a number of Cuban-American students from Florida, became friends with several, went down over Spring Break a couple of times. Their parents were actual Cuban exiles. Very, very conservative, rabidly anti-communist. We got along very well. I was under the impression that later generations have become much more liberal, though. Apparently that’s not the case across the board, and for that I’m thankful.

So, thank you, Cuban-Americans of Florida. You’ve come through for your country at an important time yet again.

Growing up in central Florida in the 80s, I had some friends whose parents were Americans of Cuban ancestry. I then moved to Tampa, with a substantial community of Americans of Cuban ancestry and a rich, visible Cuban heritage. I have seen several shows at the Circulo Cubano de Tampa (on Republica de Cuba Avenue) and have hung out with friends at the Parque Amigos de Jose Marti. As an impressionable teenager, I was struck by not only the knowledge of American civic culture these people shared (greater than that of many people who were born here and lived all their lives here), but also by their love of freedom and liberty and the sacrifices they made to ensure it for their children. Those impressions remain with me to this day.
