The mood in the Washington press corps is bleak, and deservedly so.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that, with a few exceptions, we were all tacitly or explicitly #WithHer, which has led to a certain anguish in the face of Donald Trump’s victory. More than that and more importantly, we also missed the story, after having spent months mocking the people who had a better sense of what was going on.
This is all symptomatic of modern journalism’s great moral and intellectual failing: its unbearable smugness. Had Hillary Clinton won, there’s be a winking “we did it” feeling in the press, a sense that we were brave and called Trump a liar and saved the republic.

At least some in the press are admitting how their bias blinded them to reality. The press should be reminded of this failure for years... especially those smug pundits from the Clinton News Network.

I am really not exaggerating. Just consider how ridiculously predictable they have been over an entire year.
A welcome self rebuke, but far too mild.
The Ministry of Propaganda were doing exactly what they were ordered to do.
It’s not a bias when it’s clearly an agenda to produce disinformation, it’s propaganda.
The media in America should NEVER be trusted again...
I don’t care if they ‘crawl on their hands and knees to Trump Tower’ to meet with the POTUS or anyone else for that matter...they are a bunch of communist liars, traitors and idiots...
Journalism 101 needs to be restructured to include: ‘Telling The Truth’....

Very good article! They’re smug because, generally, they all come out of the same smug class and have gone to the same smug schools and have simply learned from day one to regard themselves as superior and sort of all-knowing. Also, our educational system has been so corrupted by leftist identity-entitlement politics that they have been insulated from reality since pre-kindergarten, when their first lesson probably that little boys who supposedly think they’re little girls have a “right” to use any old bathroom they wish...
But it’s positive that at least some of them are shocked enough to wake up, at least a little. A free press is an absolutely necessity, and attacking journalists is not a good thing when either side does it; but they’ve got to start being real journalists again, that is, looking for the truth and not just rehashing the “received wisdom.”
Well, this should effectively end Will Rahn’s career at CBS....
Memo to Mister Rahn:
Consider putting actual conservatives in the news rooms and editorial offices. This would go a long way to address the problems that you (with refreshing honesty) highlight in your piece.

The press is in a tizzy about where they could have possibly gone wrong. Hard to believe this story is coming from CBS but it’s a good first step.
Now even some in the press are admitting the truth of what we’ve been saying for more than a year (and much longer, in other contexts).
