It's not an effort to prevent the attacks.That certainly can't be done.It's taking all reasonable steps to make sure that Middle America knows that they're implausible.
Given Trump's wealth an accusation of fraud is the kind of thing that Middle America would pay attention to.

Of course not.The trick is to take steps that would make such a charge laughable even to filth like Dirty Harry.These steps may very well result in his portfolio being managed less effectively than it would otherwise have been managed.It would be a personal sacrifice in the interest of the nation's well being.
Would it suffice for Trump to sell the business to his children? A billion or so should cover his retirement (in 8 years), or give him seed money to start over then.

Think about what you just said. You imply the Trump children should not run the family business during their father’s presidency but then state that Trump should call in favors to find positions for them!
