An official from West Virginia has reportedly lost her job after posting a racist comment about Michelle Obama on Facebook.

After Donald Trump won the US presidential election, Pamela Ramsey Taylor, from the Clay Development Corporation, posted: "It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House. I'm tired of seeing an Ape in heels."

Clay's mayor, Beverly Whaling, responded: "Just made my day Pam."

The post, which was initially reported by WSAZ-TV, was shared hundreds of times before it was deleted.

After the Reagan assassination attempt, a clerical employee in a Sheriff’s office in Texas said out loud, within earshot of hear colleagues,

“The next time they go for him, I hope they get him.”

She was fired by the Sheriff.

She sued. The case made it to the U.S. Supreme Court. The court considered the issue of free speech made by government employees on matters of public interest, and the competing issue of government managers requiring reasonable controls over a reasonably well-behaved subordinate workforce.

She won. (Rightly so, imo.)

Rankin v. McPherson, 483 U.S. 378 (1987)

Also... The federal Merit Systems Protections Board has sided both for and against federal employees who have made controversial public statements on matters of public concern, and has, more or less, to the extent I adequately examined the case history a while back, sided with the employee as long as the statement of the employee was not too disruptive of the office environment and managerial control.

I’d say the state employee who joked about Michelle Obama online has a case against her state employer.

Oh Please! Who does not know that a dedicated, intelligent person can EASILY determine exactly who posted ANYTHING!

There is zero anonymity behind a made up posting name!

Florida is an “at will” state. Unless such conditions are part of the employment agreement or official policy you can be shown the door for any offense. Even when such rules are in place there are exceptions for gross offenses. For example I guarantee if you threaten your boss with serious bodily harm you will not get 3 warnings.

This is why you should dump Facebook and go pseudonymous on Twitter. then you can say whatever you want until Twitter bans you.

What part about insulting one’s looks qualifies it as a racist remark?

I could understand if the remark included the person’s race.

In the case of Dorkbama the Muslim eunuch’s wife, she is not unattractive, but she radiates hate and disgust.

Mooch-Elle can make some of the most hideous scary faces known to mankind.

Does pointing this out make one racist?

If so, does pointing out that the Hillabeast is repulsive in virtually every criteria of a human being make one a racist also?

Gads, liberals are so damned idiotic, it’s long past time that we stand up to them and say, “You talkin’ to ME?”

Stupid comments yes. But what about David Brooks calling for Trump’s assassination? If he can get away that, I would say the firing is BS

In reviewing the case the court also held that was a private comment.

MSN is currently featuring this Tweet by a small-town official in West Virginia as the most important story in the world. Seriously, it is their lead story.

I recall we were all pretty cheesed off about those political cartoons that portrayed Condi Rice as a monkey.

The principle is exactly the same here.

Trump now has the perfect excuse to banish the NY Times from the White House Press Corps.

Your people are a security threat.
