I like Bolton. I think he would be a great Sec’y of State. I know he’s got some Bush baggage but is he really a neocon?

Thoughts?

Seems like a neocon to me.

Not a big fan of him.

Rudy would be great as AG. Need Gowdy to stay in Congress.

I would be fine with John Bolton. One of my only concerns with Trump is that he seems to lean a little too far toward isolationism at times. I think Bolton would bring some balance to foreign policy.

That's not to say that we don't need to seriously re-evaluate the overly interventionist policies of the past few administrations - we do, but it is crucial that we not throw the baby out with the bath water by neglecting the need to protect our vital interests around the world. It's a fine line to walk. We do need to focus on ourselves for a while and on building up the military and getting it out of the cycle of constant deployment that has helped to grind it down. But we also need to address certain threats (such as Iran) preemptively, because the consequences of them hitting us or our allies without warning cannot be taken lightly, and are too severe to try to respond to after the fact.

For rational, deterrable enemies the best approach by far is "peace through strength." Some though, like Iran, are not rational and therefore not necessarily deterrable. In those situations pre-emptive action of some sort is inevitable, and I think Bolton has a firm grasp on what is needed in those circumstances.
