Need refutation against this article's main assertion which is that the protests are genuinely being done by people upset at the Trump victory, not by paid protesters.

How about refuting it with the idea that these protests don't even make sense?

I can see protesting unjust government policy, individual office holder corruption, or the undue influence of lobbyists on the political system.

But protesting the results of an American election? It doesn't even make any sense.

This is the long agreed upon mechanism for the peaceful transfer of power and it once again worked beautifully.

How does one protest that? It's senseless.

There is no reason to argue against the details of the protests. Their very premise is fatally flawed.

It's not senseless, it's seditious conspiracy and riotous assembly. To the extent that it has a purpose, the purpose is to obstruct peaceful transfer of power and to violate the right of the People to govern themselves, and as such should be broken up with force, including deadly force if necessary.
