On a day when “concerned” Senate Democrats met behind closed doors to look for a “path forward,” as Sen. Harry Reid described it, Reid told reporters, “I’m one of the kings of earmarks.”
The retiring Senate Minority Leader said he’s “never apologized to anybody” for his attitude toward taxpayer money that lawmakers direct to be spent on pet projects back home.
“I go home and I boast about earmarks. And that’s what everyone should do,” Reid said. …

Reid really truly is a piece of garbage, a true poster child of the corrupt cesspool that Congress is.
Honest spending is justified regardless of which districts benefit. Earmarks are theft - taking money from taxpayers nationwide to give it to your own district for something that wasn’t worth buying based on the merits of the purchase alone. All earmarks should be banned forever.
If Trump continues to ignore earmarks and follows through on his lobbying ban that alone could fundamentally change the way business is done in DC.
