President-elect Donald Trump has picked Sen. Jeff Sessions to serve as the 84th Attorney General of the United States—and he couldn’t have made a better choice. Throughout his career, Sessions has demonstrated unshakable commitment and fidelity to the Constitution, the rule of law, and protecting the freedom and liberty that is our birthright as Americans.
He has almost the perfect professional background to be the attorney general. As the former U.S. Attorney of the Southern District of Alabama under President Ronald Reagan, he gained practical experience in the most important prosecutorial work that the Justice Department is supposed to do every day: enforce the criminal and civil statutes of the United States.

meh
I KNEW he was the RIGHT choice when the media started to attack him!!!
If it hadn't been Attorney General, it would have been head of DHS.
He's one of the few redeeming features of the U.S. Senate.
Thank God!
I know. Can’t think of any other, except Cruz - depending on the mood I am in.
Hans A. von Spakovsky nailed it, Sen. Sessions will be a great AG.
I remember way back in Mobile Alabama about 16 months ago. I believe it was Mobile. It was at an outdoor Trump rally where Sessions appeared with Trump for the first time. Someone said they could hear the applause and cheers all the way to Montgomery.
Mobile rally was 35,000+. Big Big rally and people came in stormy weather. Amazing all around!
I remember it well, huge crowd! It was like the kick off for the Trump mega rally era. Folks in Alabama showed up en mass!
Makes me wonder where Rudy is going to fit in the admin with all these positions already being filled?
Any ideas, anyone?
It was when Sen. Sessions stood up in front of that big rally crowd at an Alabama high school and endorsed Donald Trump that I became convinced Trump could actually win.
That was yuge.
I knew Trump was going to win on opening day when he said the magic word: “WALL”.
Secretary of State? Homeland Security?
At 72, maybe he’d rather be an informal adviser.
Sec of State is a grueling job with lots of international travel and jet lag. So I suppose you’re right about his age. Let’s hope he can help Trump as you said as an advisor. Seems very loyal to him.
Homeland Security is supposed to be Sheriff David Clarke (awesome choice)!
We’ve got adults in charge!
“There are currently 93 United States Attorneys: one for each of the 94 federal judicial districts, except for Guam and the Northern Marianas, where a single U.S. Attorney serves both districts.”
In effect, these 93 will represent Attorney General Jeff Sessions “field commanders”. In addition to prosecuting criminals in their districts, he will give them directives for investigation of criminal acts that cross districts or, importantly, involve federal and former federal officials who are thought to have broken the law.
Hopefully he will have a recommended list of 93 young and ambitious ‘pit bulls’ to give to President Trump, to replace the current crop of Obama appointees, who have been, whether or not they wanted to be, less than stellar in enforcing the law.
Why meh? Sessions is a great pick for AG.
Yes it was Mobile......Jeff is the very best for AG EVAH!!!! My dad worked at the federal courthouse in the 70s when Jeff first came to work as an Asst Atty for the Southern District of Alabama and until the day he died always thought of Jeff as his son......you go Jeff! We here in Mobile are so proud of you!
Great story...Glad the folks in Alabama came out big. We were watching the Mobile event intently from out west. Not since the founders have we seen this kind of relationship between a leader and the people.
He sounded like he wanted Sec of State. But I watched him walk, and he doesn’t look like he could physically take the grueling travel schedule that the job requires
