Trump’s DHS director accidentally reveals plan to redefine arrested illegals as ‘criminals’ (Tr.)

I did not know that anyone arrested was not a criminal.
To be arrested you ust break the law.
If you break the law you are a criminal.

Anyone can be arrested. Police can, and do, make mistakes. Being arrested does not make you a criminal, you are a criminal when you are convicted by a jury of your peers.

I did not know that anyone arrested was not a criminal.
To be arrested you must break the law.

That's actually incorrect. Plenty of people are arrested who have not broken the law. Suspects are arrested all the time. Trial resulting in CONVICTION makes you a criminal. Hence the label, "convict".

That is not accurate...just because a person is arrested, they may not be a criminal. Innocent until proven guilty, right to trial by jury, etc. I do agree that someone in this country without the proper visa is a criminal. But not due to being arrested.

Although I agree with your general sentiment, I disagree that anyone arrested is a criminal, and that you have to have broken the law to be arrested. False accusations and false arrest do most certainly occur. One need look no further than Richard Jewell to demonstrate that false accusations occur. The guy had his life turned into a mess, was tried and convicted by the media, and was an innocent guy who actually saved lives by finding a backpack bomb. He died at 44, and I would bet the stress of what he went through contributed.

Not so. You can be arrested based on suspicion that you broke the law. Many people are arrested, tried, and found to be innocent of the crime for which they were arrested.

Not quite.

You MUST be FOUND GUILTY in a court of law to be called a CRIMINAL.

Incorrect. When you are arrested, you are ACCUSED of breaking the law. People ARE arrested for crimes they did not commit. I’ve witnessed that first hand.

People also go to jail for crimes they didn’t commit because they are intimidated into pleading to a lesser crime, the courts will be more lenient than if they defend themselves, and they fail. There IS corruption in the system, unfortunately.
