This is just the first step in returning journalism and the media to what it's supposed to be - an unbiased, honest, truth before politics, non-celebrity, watchdog for society. They are supposed to be the eyes and ears for those of us who don't have the time to keep an eye on those we've given the privilege and opportunity to represent us. Instead, they've become celebrities, at least in their own heads, which has been incredibly damaging to their profession and society in general. They have an incredibly important job, which they've minimized by insisting on being ‘important’ themselves.

I don’t know that I agree with you. For most of our history media was expressly partisan one way or the other. I think just dropping the pretense that they are objective would be sufficient.

Exactly.
It's like the victor killing all of his enemies except for one. That one is then directed to go back and tell everyone to shape up and don't mess with me. Trump made it clear, that he will deal with the media on his terms, not theirs. All through the campaigns, both the primaries and general, Trump played his own game and not the media's. I don't think they've ever figured that out.
The MSM have been slapped hard up the side of their collective heads. They just haven't felt the blow or seen the swelling and bruising yet.
