5% went for libertarian, constitution or Mormon. The majority of the voters voted Republican or conservative. She would need a third of the libertarian vote along with all the Green vote to get to 50%.
I get what you are saying.
That’s not what people mean by winning the popular vote n
By that reasoning Bill never won the popular vote. More people always pulled the lever for someone either than Bill Clinton.
She officially will have won the popular vote, because she will have the most votes. In this case it’s a plurality, not a majority. Of course, if we eliminate the illegal votes, especially in California, Trump wins the popular vote. Fortunately, the Electoral College makes all of this moot.
Check MN.
Third party Guy (Evan McMullin?)got 1.5%
Trump loss margin in Minnesota: 1.5%
It would have been very close w/o 3rd party
But electoral votes are what count and she certailly did not win that.
2016 had the highest third party vote (5.6%) in 20 years (1996) when Perot took about 8.5% and the rest another 1.5%.
Let’s not forget about the 60,000 Felons who had their voting rights restored By Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe just before the election. And the 206,000 that he did the same thing for back on April 22nd of this year. Those who received McAuliffes letter also got voter registration forms with pre-paid return postage. No others in Virginia received such a service.
70,608,915 votes were not cast for Hillary.
That is a difference of 6,773,493 compared to the 63,835,422 votes she garnered.
She lost the popular vote, period.
California was always known to favor Hillary heavily so many Republicans didn’t bother to vote. Hillary won Cali by 3 million votes.
Have all the votes finally been counted? She lost? Why are democrats still saying she won?
Yeah, that is really not good logic.
There is no harm in saying she got more votes nationally. But he did not need to win more votes. I am confident if those were the rules, Trump would have run a different campaign.
Hillary won the third most votes in US history behind Obama’s top two. Trump has the biggest Rep vote total in history topping Bush 43’s 2004 number.
Keep your day job.
There is no such thing as “winning” the popular vote in a presidential election. The popular vote is not at contest. One cannot win that for which there is no race. The contest is for the Electoral College. It would be like saying a football team “won” the most touchdowns for the season. The number of touchdowns for a season is not at contest. While an interesting statistic, it is irrelevant. What is relevant is the team that won the most games.
