she’s referring to the national security act of 1947, which ostensibly prohibits former members of the military from holding the office of SecDef unless they have been out of the service for a number of years — 7, I believe.

Does this idiot realize Mattis is a civilian now? The law specifies that a general officer in the military cannot become Sec Def until he has been retired for at least seven years.
Mattis retired in May, 2015.
