Probably in the minority, here, but I don’t feel like every Japanese PM should travel to Pearl Harbor and tender another apology. At some point we should stop expecting an apology for something that happened so long ago. History is replete with dastardly acts by many, the US included. I’m not a fan of us apoplogizing for stuff and don’t see why we would expect it from others. Are we a snowflake country? Hell no! Let’s all just do the right thing going forward.

Probably not every Japanese prime minister should do so, but has any ever done so? We’re not talking about some run of the mill conflict like the War of the Roses or something. Every nation has done wrong in war, including our own but the Axis powers in WWII deliberately set out to subjugate whole races of people and committed unspeakable crimes on an industrial scale. There was simply no justification for the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Japanese WANTED war, and they got it good and hard.

If not an apology for WWII, has the Japanese government ever apologized for the Rape of Nanking or the Korean comfort women? How about medical experiments on American POWs?
