The good news is that the Iraqi military is bleeding to take back their cities this time. They will be less willing to run away without the trust that we’ll be the ones bleeding to take territory back the next time around.

We don't think anyone in the Barky administration is smart enough to even talk about something this important...we will leave this to the Trump Administration to make those decisions!!!

RE: US, partners need to stay in Iraq after ISIS defeat

Too late.... that should have been emphasized in 2008 when Obummer took over.

Isn’t this the perfect end to the Obama Iraq policy. He pulled out recklessly and too quickly as a mindless, knee-jerk anti-Bush move. Then the entire country went to Hell in a hand-basket. Then he jumped back in and now his Defense Secretary says we need to stay. This is a great reminder of what a disaster Obama has been when it comes to US Middle East policy.

Defense Secretary Ash Carter...Look, it isn’t that we don’t like you, or don’t trust you, or think that you did a horrible job as the head of the Department of Defense, it isn’t even that we think you are weak and pathetic as a man, no, it isn’t even that you couldn’t even fake that you loved America...It’s none of those things, but seriously, you are dismissed, you can leave now.

Don’t go away mad...Just go away!

The adults have got this now and General Mattis will be able to do a better job than you with his eyes closed and both hands tied behind his back on accident than you ever did intentionally.

Now beat it, loser — The General has to clean up your $hit now!!!

Ahem, you have that wrong. Nature abhors a vacuum. After obummer pulled everyone out, ISIS formed and filled that vacuum. We need to have a few people there to facilitate a transition, like after WWII.

I think Trump will give this just as fair consideration as Carter’s boss gave Dubya’s advice on Iraq :)

Yeah, the Obama administration leaves with the expectation that ISIS is about to be defeated and the economy is about ready to take off.

They have blamed Bush for 8 years and want to take credit for anything Trump accomplishes.

Quite right, the only reason things are so screwed up over there is obama pulled our troops. The thing had a reasonable chance of success if he hadn’t done that.

The irony is strong in this one, after all the blood shed and money spent was squandered by Dear Leader, we are back there doing it again.

Also don’t forget to add the “rules of engagement “ that hog tied American forces...if you send them let them kill and break things...that’s what they do.

Someone ask Ashley Wilkes Carter what the Iraqis have to say about this?

Seeing as how US troops are about as welcome as week-old fish over there once the lights are on and phones are restored so the natives can sit around again drinking mint tea and bitching about the West- and occupiers actually become a rallying cause for the next round of insurgents

There wouldn’t have been an ISIS if we had not removed all of our troops.

Ash Carter is an example of what one should never see as a Secretary of Defense.
