Croatian Nazis got a free pass because they were doing Vatican's bidding. Americans still do not know this sordid story. In the summer of 1941 they mass murdered more than 400 000 Serbs and Jews. Only one individual, Franciscan priest Pero Brzica slaughtered more than 1000 inmates of Jasenovac death camp IN A SINGLE NIGHT. There were more than 1000 such nights in Nazi Croatia 1941-45. > Vatican organized ratlines to exfiltrate Croatian Nazis and their lot to South America in 1945.

After WWII, Croatian Nazis claimed they are "anticommunists". Many settled in the U.S. as "quiet neighbors"

Croatia's Hitler, Ante Pavelic died in Spain. Most people do not even know his name.

For Croatians, crime did pay. 45 years later, they continued where Pavelic stopped.
