I wouldn’t be here either as my grandfather was in Europe awaiting a boat to take him to Japan when the bombs were dropped. He survived Europe but would he have survived Japan?
My dad was already shell-shocked to pieces; but still ready
to charge hell with a bucket of water. They might not have
survived JAPAN; and thankfully they did not have to - then
again, our boys were FIGHTERS. So was TRUMAN. He gave the
order to drop the bombs, went to bed that night and slept
well and soundly. JAPAN learned a very hard lesson from
people with backbones. After Pearl Harbor; one of the
Jap commanders remarked, “I fear we have only awakened a
SLEEPING GIANT.” - That is exactly what they did. The
GIANT awoke ready to fight.
