This will go nowhere in congress and is all for show. Pigs at the trough will never vote to limit themselves. I’ve really soured on Levin over the last year, but he’s on target when he says the only way to term limit congress and the supremes is via Article V.

Yup. There is no way a majority of them will vote for it.

The only way to limit terms is a convention of the states.

Unfortunately, you’re probably correct. I’d add to that another aspect of the Article V movement - repeal of the 17th Amendment that would return power to the states in the national legislative process.

We the people have term limits in our hands.
We, the voters of VA-7, showed the rest of the country how it’s done when we Cantorized the weasel Eric Cantor.

If someone doesn’t propose it, then it will never even get started.

However, the backup is for states to propose it, if Congress fails to do so. While it is a remote possibility that an Article V convention will be called, it is a lesser threshold than for approving an amendment in any case.

"This will go nowhere in congress and is all for show. Pigs at the trough will never vote to limit themselves.

And yet at state and local levels, term limits have been established. Difficult, very difficult, but not impossible.

The last I read, the only article Levin was pushing had to do with trade/deficit spending.

I disagree...they will support it or they know they will term limited by their constituents...

They don’t have to limit themselves. They can grandfather in the existing congress and put the limits on future politicians.
