Carbon Tax, Climate, Trade, Education Policy Concerns Arise with [Rex Tillerson]
Breitbart ^ | 10 Dec 2016 | MATTHEW BOYLE

President-elect Donald Trump may have demonstrated another instance of veering from his core campaign policy platforms with a major cabinet selection in his likely Secretary of State pick, ExxonMobil CEO and chairman Rex Tillerson.

Tillerson has a history of supporting policies opposite to many of the themes the president-elect highlighted during his campaign, including on Common Core education standards, using sanctions to enact foreign policy objectives, carbon tax, climate change, and on global trade and energy policy.

Newt said he's a great pick. He's real good at making deals and has been around the world.

I'll trust Newt before any of the fake news reports.

Carbon tax is a product cost increasing, big money making scheme from Al Gore, who is ready to make a fortune in the carbon credit trading market, advanced by global warming scammers. What’s wrong with this picture?

This may or may not indicate a swerve. I will say that every time over the last 18 months when folks said it was a swerve, it turned out not to be.

Until policy is revealed that is contrary to our interests, we need to wait and see.

Some of these folks may not pan out to be good. In time we'll know.

For all I know right now, these folks will be taking directive from Trump, not the other way around.

Until that is proven wrong, we have nothing to complain about.

I don't put much stock in that. Tillerson headed up one of the left's biggest boogeyman companies, and had to play politics with those people to keep them at bay.

He wouldn't be accepting President Trump's offer if he truly believed in those liberal policies.

Supports a carbon tax to fight the globull warming BS. This is a bad pick no way around it.

Boyle was one of the more lazier closet anti-Trumpers on Breitbart, who often reported falsehoods or media polls with glee while writing complicated puff pieces for the mutant bread man, aka Ted Cruz.

I’m not worried about the ideological impurities of random Trump appointments, especially when we’ve gotten such great choices already who are more than “pure enough.” At this p0oint, the only thing to worry about is whether they will do the job that Trump gives them. And considering Trump’s track record, there’s a high probability of that.

“carbon tax, climate change”

Trump’s head of the EPA opposes these and it falls under his scope of responsibilities, not Tillerson’s.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the GOP basically has no talent outside of a handful of people, and most of them are in the media and not elected to office. Ted Cruz, a prick as unlikable as Hillary Clinton in the eyes of mainstream America, was literally the best we had before Trump showed up, but people still complain—even after many great appointments already—that not every individual is utterly pure? C’mon now, the GOP just doesn’t have the talent to supply the numbers of people you guys want. It’s clear Trump wanted a business man in this position to negotiate deals, not dictate American policy, and that’s the only rational way to really interpret it.

I can’t support that outlook. Had this been McLame at the helm and he made this announcement you (we) would be in a frenzy.

Why different? Why now? What ever happened to conservatives holding their people let alone their cantidate accountable? Did our principles get traded in through a populist movement?

Think about John McCain’s announced policies, and then think about Trump’s announced policies.

There is a massive difference in these two people’s outlooks. McCain has already joined the talking head circuit in preparation to trash everything Trump tries to do.

Trump’s CEO experience, and his comments after the election on his victory tour reveal a man who isn’t backing down on policy.

That being the case, there isn’t a need to go postal on Trump yet. He is the CEO. These other people work for him.

I think you’re used to these appointees guiding policy in other administrations. I don’t see that here.

If I do, I will address it.

“Tillerson is on record supporting all the lib policies mentioned above.”

Well, guess what? Tillerson works for President Trump and will do what he’s ordered to do or he’ll be fired. It’s that simple. No cabinet officer sets policy for any President: they only IMPLEMENT the President’s policy. And if Tillerson doesn’t do that, he’s gone. No doubt, Tillerson fully understands all of that and will perform admirably.

I put a lot of stock in it. A mega corp like Exxon benefits greatly from squash the little guy regulation like carbon tax. Nothing about those policies will MAGA and it is a fact Tillerson supported them.

Cruz lost - get over it. Trump (who "couldn't run a lemonade stand, much less a campaign") won the whole enchilada and has shown that he expects folks to support his agenda and be able to do the job. Even as the Left goes to extremes trying to delegitimize him and steal the election by coup, we still have idiots "on our side" trying to undermine him too - "There's your sign".....

How about turning to useful enterprises -

Don’t second guess Donald Trump. How many times have you winced or gasped when Trump said or did something “inappropriate” only to see a week or ten days later that he made a ton of hay out of it.

It is possible, even likely that one or more Trump appointments will not be good after they take their jobs. It is also likely that should that be the case the appointntee will be replaced. to date Trump has demonstrated sharp instincts and judgment.
