Taxpayer-funded Eastern Michigan University is currently implementing an 11-point Black Student 10-Point Plan which among much else will compel every department on campus to inject a black studies course into the curriculum of every major.
Work on the Black Student 10-Point Plan has been underway for nearly a year and progress is being made, Eastern Michigan staffer Calvin Phillips said at meeting last week, according to a school press release.
A course on Black studies will be built into the curriculum of every major, says point #3 of the Black Student 10-Point Plan.
Black student leaders are working closely with faculty administrators to explore curricular options to force black studies courses into every campus department, the Eastern Michigan press release explains.
There are well-understood challenges in attempting to incorporate black studies into every major, school administrators admit. For example, it may be difficult to incorporate black studies into certain natural science majors physics, say, or mathematics.
In any case, injecting a racial component into every major will require revisions to many courses.
Another aspect of Eastern Michigans 11-pointed Black Student 10-Point Plan is a strategy to increase the number of black professors sharply so that the percentage in each department mirrors the percentage of black students enrolled at the school.
Beginning this semester, all academic department heads and academic search committee chairs must undergo training designed to prevent bias in search processes, the schools press release explains.
The Black student leadership on campus understands the challenges in attempting to hire a corresponding percentage of Black faculty, including legal limitations and the fact that there is a limited national pool of black faculty.
Black students currently represent 18 percent of the student body at Eastern Michigan.
Interestingly, Eastern Michigans Africology & African Studies faculty is exempt from the plan to have the racial compositions of faculty in each department mirror the racial composition of the student population.
In the fall of 2016, 13 percent of new faculty hired self-identify as Black.
Other aspects of the Eastern Michigans 11-pointed Black Student 10-Point Plan involve a plan to force all students to complete a general course on race, ethnicity, and racism and a plan to create a designated space where marginalized students can gather safely and learn about financial and academic resources available to Black students.
Also, under the 11-pointed Black Student 10-Point Plan, members of the Black Student Union will now be organizing a special, segregated Black Homecoming.
At least they dont have a Muzzie Studies requirement....
Will that 11-point “Ten Point Plan” include the math department? :=)
I have several coworkers “self identify as black”. They wear their pants half down off their ass like prison punks with no clue what that means.
I guess it’s a good time to skip college and just become a plumber.
whoa whoa...if they do that then students won’t have enough time for their important gender studies, journalism studies and art history classes
If blacks comprise 13%-15% of our total USA population, why are they hired at over 90% in the Departments of the US government? Are there no whites who could do that job? Are they that good at what they do? I have found very few I can actually understand. Even at the VA blacks are very prominently hired into all kinds of slots-—and that does not mean they can’t do the job which they are doing well as far as I can tell. I just don’t understand their preponderance.
I am truly tired of BLM, “pay me reparations”, and attitude.
And I am tired of Hispanics not being considered white, too.
And now that my own kids have done the genetics for fun and discovered they have Negro genes at 1% or so, are they black or white. They look white or tan. Are they going to stop talking to me because I don’t have Negro genes?
What kind of place is it that has no room for the “tans”?
Jus’ sayin’.
Don’t forget LGBT studies in every major as well.
What are they going to study? How to whine, or how to be a parasite?
“Say it long enough and loud enough and it will become TRUTH!”
These are not Black “studies” this is “Black BRAIN WASHING”...period!
The basis of thought for these losers at all institutes of so-called higher education (and even down to the 1st grade of public school) is to teach blacks that WE have to conform to their morals and society...not the other way around.
I can hardly wait for Black Math studies.
And no, I am not going to post any racisss Ebonics-rich student math problems like 4 plus 3 be what?
The beauty of the sciences is that they are about unvarnished truth. Any attempt to inject race, religion or culture degrades the subject and misleads the student into thinking that hard truth can be bent to the ideology of the moment.
It is so sad when people claim that hard work, discipline, attention to detail and intellectual honesty are “white”.
So it’s ok to say Black now, instead of African-American? This is so confusing. Maybe we should just stick with coloreds like the NAACP does.
Wait til next year.
I will never give my DNA code to some company (let alone pay them to have it). It’s like those that gave away their (and their friends’) facial recognition to Facebook. OMG.
Proggies want reparations. This is greasing the slide. Worked for getting God knocked off, feminism and faggot marriage...
When they gonna teach white studies?
Black studies? Live in the South for six months and you’ll know all you need to know in that area.
At least they dont have a Muzzie Studies requirement.... yet.
Maybe it has to get in line behind Queer studies and Transgender studies, which should be required of all majors also? :)
Good. Keep up this nonsense! It will send a few more common-sense Democrats over the the R column next election!
