Oh, unquestionably. But the longest journey starts with a single step. We've been years getting here, will take years to dig out.

I think that if DJT's administration just cuts off benefits and puts some teeth in the existing laws, many of the illegals will self-deport, and quickly. That, in combination with building a wall to keep more from coming in, hopefully will leave American with a problem of a manageable size.

For every $1000 in benefits that those 40 million illegals get, that's 40 *Billion* tax dollars collected from American citizens, but not being returned to American Citizens. A Billion dollars is an unimaginable amount of money, 40 (or 80, or 120) even more so.

And those are hard costs. More difficult to put a dollar figure on the drain for education, law enforcement, medical and hospital, and on, and on. Just the added costs of uninsured motorist car insurance - particularly in CA - must be immense.

I think that fixing this problem will have a massive, positive effect on the economy, but it might take awhile to see.

I completely agree. Turning off 'the magnet' is the absolute most effective means we have, to encourage these border jumpers to go home. They can't survive here, without access to our jobs and our welfare system.

Best part of all, it only takes honest enforcement of our existing laws to accomplish this. Any president since Eisenhower could have done it. It appears that we finally have a president who will.

We hope.
