He tried to grab somebody attacking me from behind and then a group of the people attacking me turned on him.” Unfortunately, this is what we all can expect sooner or later. I'll be carrying my glock and my 12 gauge to deal with any attackers. I guess Australia doesn't allow it's citizens to carry.

Guns, lots of ammo and multiple magazines. Then knives and short swords as backup. Light armor to deflect blows doesnt hurt.
