It appeared that something was amiss when the Berlin police tweeted this early in the morning U.S. time:
The temporary arrested suspect denies the offense.
Therefore we are particulary alert.

That suspect has already been released. Berlin police posted a fuller explanation for that decision on their website (via Google Translate):
The accused who had been temporarily arrested on the occasion of the attack on the Berlin Christmas market on 19 December 2016 was released in the evening on the orders of the Federal Prosecutor. The previous investigations did not result in an urgent offense against the accused. He made extensive statements in a police hearing but denied involvement. A complete tracking of the truck driver after the performed stop is not done by eye witnesses. The criminal investigations carried out so far have not been able to prove a presence of the accused during the incident in the cab of the truck.
NBC News has a bit more detail:
Germany’s chief prosecutor Peter Frank echoed that, warning: “We must get used to the idea that he was possibly not the perpetrator or that he didn’t belong to the group of perpetrators.” He added: “We do not know if there were more people involved in a support role.”
In other words, the attacker may have escaped and may not be acting alone. There was also some more information on the other man found dead inside the truck’s cab:
Among the dead was a Polish man found shot to death inside the cab of the stolen truck. The weapon has not been found.
Bloodstained clothing was also found inside the cab, but the suspect in custody was wearing clean clothes, Frank said.
The truck itself came from Poland and the owner said he was concerned it had been hijacked because he hadn’t been able to reach the driver. So it appears the attacker hijacked the truck while the Polish driver was at the wheel and, at some point, killed him.
If police got the wrong man last night that means the attacker who murdered 12 people and injured dozens more has had quite a few hours to run. Assuming he had some sort of escape plan and documents, he could have crossed into any number of other countries by now.
But the really worrisome possibility is that he didn’t run but is only in hiding as he waits for a chance to strike again. If you’re willing to die in the effort to murder innocent people why would you run? There are plenty more trucks to hijack at gunpoint and plenty more public markets to attack.
This Euronews report points out that police with machine guns will be guarding outdoor markets and barriers are being set up in some German cities. But until the attacker is captured, police and citizens should assume this isn’t over.

Call my a cynic, but something tells me they got the right guy in the first place, but the perp happened to have friends in high places. Can’t upset the wrong people.
Therefore, they’ll find a patsy.

If it was organized enough for a truck hijacking, I don’t see why it couldn’t also be organized enough for a get-away driver to be loitering nearby.
So in the name of multiculturalism and inclusion, everyone must walk around with machine guns trained on them. That’s much better than before.
After how the German government and the police there covered up all the rapes at New Years last year then I suspect this is another cover up to protect Merkel and her policy of open borders.

Another thing. Why was ghe let go when it aqs reported he had fake , forged documents on him like passports. Surely he should have been charged for the slightest crime, and then held until they had more evidence.

An incorrect implication that if they capture the attacker "it" will be over! Some people just don't get it! Stupid.
All we had to do was sink the Bismark and "it" was all over, wasn't it?
If they are actually interested in getting the perp then I hope they at least took a DNA sample from the fellow they had and see if it matches with something in the truck, like the surface of the steering wheel, maybe. If they would rather not pin it on a Mohammedan , well, there ya go.
Or the police are instructed that it is not permitted to be a Moslem so they let the Moslem go.
I guess just because the moozlum murderer was driving the truck and people saw him doesn’t let the idiot “authorities” know his motive. They are releasing him so they can blame some innocent non-moozlum person. Kiss europe goodbye!

For that reason, I share it here as the threat we face grows daily. My question about that muslim threat is a simple one: How many more of us must die before we “GET” that ALL ISLAM is the problem and will never abate until they change — or WE change them!

I just listened to your A block discussion on islam. Here’s what you are either missing or are constrained from saying on the subject. Even Dr. Gorka, for whom I have great respect, is missing this critical point.
As several authors have correctly observed, the “MODERATE MUSLIMS ARE IRRELEVANT” as they fail – or are terrified – to condemn the murderous radicals. And if the radicals succeed in their quest to dominate the world with their “caliphate”, these so called moderates – who profess to embrace the words of the Koran and the verses calling for the murder of the infidel wherever he is found – would quickly swing in behind the crazies to avail themselves of the worldly fruits of their victory.
All of which has caused me – and others who have not been cowed by political correctness into a cowardly and, eventually, deadly silence – to offer that there IS NO RADICAL ISLAM: THERE IS JUST ISLAM and history teaches that ALL of its adherents pose a threat to those who are not.
